Kiawah Island is South Carolina’s beautiful, relaxing coastal oasis on the east coast of the United States, conveniently placed in Charleston county within an hour of the small city and airport. The resort is a special place for couples or family getaways and of course, golf trips at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. I created this Kiawah Island map to make planning your vacation and navigating around the island easier.

Important Places • Kiawah Island Map

Below I highlight some of the key spots on the Kiawah Island map, to help you understand the layout of the island.

Kiawah Island’s Resort Gate

The Kiawah Island Golf Resort is fenced in, and in order to get inside you’ll need a reservation somewhere at the resort, whether that’s for a hotel stay, golf tee time or restaurant reservation. I put a border on the Kiawah Island map which shows where the resort extends to.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island

The Sanctuary at Kiawah is the island’s sprawling resort, and if you’re looking for a luxury vacation on the island, this is your spot. You’ll have access to everything on the island including the oceanfront pool, multiple other pools, resort events, activities and resort rentals, golf discounts and priority on reservations around the island.

Kiawah Island Ocean Course at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island is one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world, and depending on the day’s winds, can also be among the most difficult. It is for sure the best of the best Kiawah island golf courses, and if you can swing it and can get a reservation before they’re gone, you don’t want to miss a round at this once-in-a-lifetime course.

The second best Kiawah Island golf course is the Cougar Point golf course, which is where my husband and I golfed the last time we were on Kiawah. It’s another beautifully maintained course for a slightly lower price point. You can read my Cougar Point review here.

Kiawah Island Beachwalker Park

You’ll see just outside the resort gate on the Kiawah Island map is the gorgeous Beachwalker Park, offering the only public beach access on the Island. Consider having a beach day here, or take advantage of the packed sand which is perfect for long walks and bike rides to explore the island and its wildlife.

Fresh Fields Village

Fresh Fields Village is a shopping hub just outside of the Kiawah Island gate, where you’ll also find some restaurants and lots of events annually.

Heron Nature Center

Focused on preserving the area’s natural habitat, the Heron Nature Center is a great activity for families with children or any nature lovers. It is located within the Night Heron park.

Kiawah River

You’ll see on the Kiawah Island map that the island is surrounded by natural bodies of water and local wildlife, part of which is on the Kiawah River. Fish on the Kiawah River Inlet or witness the amazing strand fishing at Captain Sam’s Inlet, which is one of the only places in the world you can see this.

Night Heron Park

Night Heron Park is home to one of The Sanctuary’s pools, the Kiawah Island Nature Center, walking and biking trails, events, a few casual restaurants and plenty of local wildlife to observe. Resort and golf club guests are the only ones who can access the pool, while most other areas of the park are open to the public.

If you’re staying on the resort, Kiawah Island Golf Resort also has an excellent interactive map to use here, although it mainly focuses on resort attractions.
